Pleo Celebrates Halloween
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Hot Deals, Misc. Tech, Software, Toys,
Ugobe is celebrating Pleo’s first Halloween with some new downloadable software. He will not only issue his usual noises, he can also sound like a screeching cat, a spooky ghost, a dragon and a Pleosaurus Rex. The “audio costumes” are free and you will only need a blank SD Card with a minimum of 32MB storage. At a total size of 2.7MB, Ugobe says it will take longer than most downloads, but then maybe Pleo doesn’t like holidays.

Find your 2008 Black Friday deals
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: HDTV, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Internet,
We found a great little site dedicated to Black Friday. There over fifty lists from companies that include Circuit City, CompUSA, Office Depot and Radio Shack, with more to come. Looking at Sears’ list, we found such items as a Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player for $199.99, Sharp’s LC26SB24U 26” 720p LCD HDTV for $399.99, and the Sony 5-Disc DVD/CD Home Theater System with 1080p Upconversion at $249.99, marked down $50.00. Even if we can’t always shop online, it is certainly a plus to be able to check out what is out there ahead of time.

Sonos Controller for iPhone hits App Store
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Handhelds, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Music, Software,
If you thought we were done with today’s Sonos news, think again - they’re on a roll, having just announced the availability of Sonos Controller for iPhone and iPod touch, for free. If you’re a Sonos fan, then you immediately understand what this means. If you own an iPhone or iPod touch, you get a touchscreen Sonos controller, at no extra cost. Seriously, that rocks. The new app gives you access to all the new Sonos 2.7 features we told you about earlier as well, like Rhapsody, Sirius, Last.fm, and tons of radio from across the globe. In fact, with the Sonos Controller for iPhone, you can access music from any computer on your network, a NAS drive, or even a Time Capsule. When you realize that one of the standard Sonos Controller remote costs $400, you begin to see how big a deal this is. Releasing this as a free download makes Sonos instantly easier to use, especially in a multi-zone, multi-iPhone household, like mine.
Be sure to check out our Sonos Controller for iPhone gallery for some high resolution stills of the app, which is available now on the App Store.

Our fave wholesalers have come up with a new pocket-sized point and shoot 5 megapixel Digital Camera with 3-inch TFT LCD screen. With high res JPEG images and MPEG4 AVI video capability, it features easily adjustable settings such as red eye fix, white balance, and 3 burst shots. The cam is also PictBridge compatible and comes with a USB and AV cable combination and pouch. At a price of only $99.99, we can probably forgive its uncool chartreuse color.

Best Buy Insignia Blu-ray Player Drops Price
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, HDTV, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Movies,
Best Buy is selling its Insignia Blu-ray Player for very little funds. The NS-BRDVD features Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD support, has a built-in SD card slot, and upconverts standard DVDs to 1080p. After a $30.00 rebate, the player will set you back only $199.99 and the company is throwing in a coupon book good for $100.00 off select Blue-ray movies. It is available both online and in their stores. Our first impression is to go to the store and compare it with another using the same TV, but we don’t really want to spoil the inexpensive moment.

We just had to share this site that we recently heard about. In a world of expensive electronics, there are actually some that you can get for free. Hey, It’s Free is a daily listing of all things that require no money to acquire. There are music and e-book downloads, links to old NES games online, free text messaging sites and even USB flash drives. While many of them expire rather quickly, it’s worth taking a look at the site as Goob and staff make sure that each of the items are checked out before posting. They also feature clothing, coupons, food, and many other freebies.
